We are water. A great gift from Mother Earth, it is the source of all life and that which sustains and connects all things on our planet. Water influences all of Earth’s environmental systems from the atmosphere, to melting snow on mountain tops, to ocean depths unknown, water is adaptable; ever-changing, moving and flowing, carving paths through rocks and mountains sculpting Earth’s landscape.
We have explored less than 20% of our oceans’ floor nevertheless, for all that we have yet to uncover of the mysteries of water, we cannot deny the intrinsic role it plays in the intelligence that makes life possible.
Forming a deeper connection to water and nature in general can transform your overall well being. We are instinctively drawn towards the ocean when in need of respite, contemplation, and peace. The ocean does not judge, instead it creates a vast space to release and let go, humbly reminding us of our own fragility and vulnerability, inspiring awe and gratitude, awakening us to understanding that we are not alone. We are all connected. If we are to align collectively it is through a shared consciousness, for to connect with your soul is to connect with Spirit and the universal life force energy woven throughout all of creation. What connects all life? Water.
Water as a symbol has been used since ancient civilizations to represent our inner emotional world, the subconscious, wisdom, transformation, spirituality, and healing. Spanning across many creation myths, folklore and sacred texts, the primordial waters of Earth are associated with her origin and source of creation. By attuning to the water we permeate the boundaries between our inner and outer worlds, connecting the essence of Self to the source of Life, and acknowledge the sacred all around us is the sacred held within.

Since ancient times to the present day, water has been central to most of the world's faith traditions as a sacramental during ritual and spiritual practice; from immersion in holy rivers to baptism and ritual baths, for blessings, initiation, anointing, and protection. Water’s deep association with both physical and spiritual cleansing has led pilgrims around the world to venture to numerous sacred sites for purification to bathe, cleanse and heal.
From bowls of water to waterways, wells and great bodies of water, Hydromancy has been practiced throughout history - the term encompassing all practices using water as a sacred vessel and divination tool. With the wisdom of water being a conduit for our collective consciousness, humans across all cultures and faiths have interpreted the patterns, reflections and movement in water to intuit insights, messages, visions and revelations.
We are now witnessing scientists theorizing about water consciousness and its ability to hold an imprint, a memory; it can be imbued with intention and emotion so far as to physically affect its molecular structure (Masaru Emoto).
This notion has invariably resonated with me and has thus led me throughout my life to always connect with a body of water.

My affinity with water began from a young age having spent so much time in the sea around the islands of the Philippines. I have been swept from the chilly North Sea of my birthplace Scotland, to the South Western Pacific Ocean, around the tropical waters of SouthEast Asia, and back to the majestic waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Diving not only opened my eyes to the beauty and wonder of our oceans but it opened my soul to a state of peace and serenity that has deeply served me on my quest for true inner peace.
Throughout my travels around the world, diving has not only remained a passion, a career, and a hobby, but it has been my gateway to self-healing and finding my true calling. Over the past few years a series of extraordinary events aligned with my ocean journey, strengthening my connection to the water, unveiling the depths of her wisdom, and gently carrying me to writing these very words. Forging a deeper connection to water has brought me to the depths of the ocean and the depths of my soul, guiding me, transforming me, healing me.
She calls on you to venture with courage and explore the shadowy depths of your own soul. I invite you too to dive into the sacred that surrounds us, the sacred that connects us all, and the sacred within you.
